Abstract
Epidemiological studies of heart, disease on 140,775 medical cases (115,877 cases of Out-patient and 24, 898 cases of In-patient) were made and following results were obtained.
1) Heart disease was seen in 7.1% (male 6.7%, female 7.5%) of Out-patient and in 10.2% (male 10.7%, female 9.8%) of In-patient.
2) Incidence of heart diseases increased as increase of age in Out-patient, (4.4% of 15-40-year group, 17.8% of 41-60 year group and 26.1% of over 61 year group) and In-patient (4.8% of 15-40 year group, 18.7% of 41-60 years, group and 21.2% of over 61 years group)
3) Age distribution of heart disease in Out-patient were 31.3% `in 15-40 year group, 47. 9% in 41-60 year group and 20.7% in over 61 year group. In in-patient, 19.4% in 15-40 year group, 53.1% in 41-60 year group and 27.6% in over 61 year group.
4) Incidences of individual heart diseases among 8, 200 cases(male 4, 095 cases, female 4,105 ca es) of Out-patient were as follows rheumatic myocarditis 4.6% (male 0.3%, female 0.9%), mitral valvular disease 4.8% (male 3. 3%, female 6.3%), aortic valvular heart disease 1.4% (male 16 0, female 1.1%), hypertension 85. 7% (male 86. 8%, female 84.6%), myocardial infarction 0. 6% ( ale 1.0%,¢¥ female 0.3%), angina pectoris 1.2% (male 2. 4%, female 0.4%), atherosclerotic heart failure 4.5% (male 4.6%, female 4.3%), pericarditis 0. 3% (male 0.
